Which one for your room?
- 55″ fills 30–40° from 5.5 to 7.5 ft (1.7–2.3 m). Farther than that it starts to feel small for films.
- 65″ fills 30–40° from 6.5 to 8.8 ft (2.0–2.7 m). Closer than 6.5 ft it goes past 40°: immersive for films, busier for news and sport.
- Between 6.5 and 7.5 ft both sizes sit in the range, so wall width, budget and what you watch decide.
Measure from your eyes on the sofa to the screen, not wall to wall — the sofa and TV stand usually take a couple of feet out of the room.
Our take. The most common upgrade question. Ten inches sounds small, but the 65" has roughly 40% more picture — at sofa distance it is the step from “TV in the room” to “the screen you watch”.
Watch out. Width grows by about 8.7 in (22 cm). Check your TV unit or wall space first; a 55" stand often won’t hold a 65" whose feet sit near the edges.
