Privacy policy

1. Information we handle

We do not ask for personal information such as your name, email or phone number. There is no sign-up or login, and the sizes and distances you enter are calculated in your browser and kept in the page URL so you can share them. Because those settings are part of the page address, they reach our host (Cloudflare) when you reload the page or open a shared link, and Google’s ad service receives the page address when ads are shown.

Visits are counted with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies, and with Google Analytics 4. Google Analytics stores cookies on this site (names starting with _ga) to recognise a returning browser. The page address, the referring page, browser and device type, approximate location and how the calculators are used (the TV size and distance settings, which model lists came into view and which model details were opened, and which model and store a shopping link went to) are sent to Google, and we see them as totals. Google signals and ad personalisation are switched off and no name or contact detail is sent. To opt out, install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on or block cookies in your browser. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland no analytics cookies are used until you consent. If you choose to email us, we receive your email address and message and use them only to reply.

2. Hosting and email

The site is served by Cloudflare, Inc. (United States). When you load a page, connection data such as your IP address, browser type, the address requested and the time may be processed by Cloudflare for security and delivery. Cloudflare keeps and deletes this under its own policies; we do not use it to identify anyone. Email sent to our address is forwarded by Cloudflare and kept in a Google (Gmail) mailbox until we have replied.

3. Advertising and cookies

This site may show ads served by Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.

• Other third-party vendors and ad networks may also serve ads on this site and use cookies. You can opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info.
• See how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
• Visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland are asked for consent through a Google-certified consent message before personalised ads are shown, and can change their choice at any time.
• Visitors in US states with consumer privacy laws (such as California) can opt out of the sale or sharing of their personal information for targeted advertising through the “Do not sell or share my personal information” link that Google shows them.
• You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The calculators keep working without them.

4. Affiliate links

Product links on English pages are Amazon Associates links. When you follow one you leave SofaView for Amazon, which may use cookies to credit the referral; Amazon’s privacy notice applies from then on. We never learn who bought anything. Amazon’s reports show clicks and which products were ordered or shipped through our links, with the commission earned, but nothing that identifies the buyer.

5. Retention

We keep no personal information ourselves. If you email us, we keep the message only until we have replied, then delete it permanently. Google Analytics keeps visit data for the retention period set in our account (2 months).

6. Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete anything we hold about you (in practice, an email you sent). Write to the address below and we will act on it promptly.
